Conference Update

With the close of the 2019 conference AIRA received new leadership and is seating a new organizational Board.

As of January 2020, we have made a decision to hold our gatherings as a moveable feast and will now also meet every other year.

This decision reflects a focus on our organizational vision of representing Indigenous students, scholars, and individuals interested in our mission, from across the entirety of the American Intercontinental region. This includes North, Central and South American countries and their outlying island areas. As such, please notice that we will be referred to as iAIRA or the intercontinental American Indigenous Research Association.

This decision also assists our goal of extending our global network and partnerships, through attending and participating, as a representative body of the iAIRA organization, at such events as the International Indigenous Research Conference in New Zealand. They meet every other year, and we anticipate attending this next November, 2020. We hope many of our iAIRA members can also attend. Please let us know if you are? We are planning a pavilion site for our members and friends.

Our next iAIRA conference is being planned for the Fall of 2021 and will be held at the University of Montana, in Missoula.

Soon, we will also be announcing a call for proposals to host the 2023 conference.

Please watch for updates! Onward!
